Helicopter Hover Challenge

On arrival at the airfield, you will meet your instructor for tea or coffee and biscuits and then have a full briefing will cover the effects of the controls and the main components of the helicopter. The briefing will take place in one of our briefing rooms in the club house at the airfield.

Next you will be taken to the helicopter and shown round it and have a look at the main components and the flight controls. Your instructor will be happy to answer any questions you may have at any time.

Next you will take your first short flight, taking the controls and trying to remain in the hover, having great fun in trying to keep the helicopter steady.

As you will find out helicopters are very challenging especially in the hover and you will require full concentration to achieve this

Back inside you will be de-briefed and once again have the opportunity to talk to your instructor. After a short break you will have your 2nd attempt at hovering with a circuit of the airfield included in this flight.

This course is ideally suited to a group of friends as we can offer friendly competitions and time trials with prizes for each winner.

Please note that family members are very welcome to come along to Sandtoft Aerodrome where we have excellent catering facilities and areas for viewing and photography.

After the course you are welcome to stay at the airfield for a meal in the Skyview restaurant and celebrate your success at the bar!
